So this is my first public blog, a little nervous about it, strangely enough for the same reasons i'm excited. Content is going to be mixed, initially most of it will probably be about a project i'm working on, definately not boring. My hopes though, are not only to get feedback on the project, but to start conversations about the theory integrated into it. So without further adieu...

A Multidisciplinary Network: Empowering People

purpose>
To introduce and explore the opportunities for the development of a social network of multidisciplinary design offices, with emphasis on educating students, professionals and businesses on the advantages of working with “design” together.

vision>
An opportunity to deviate from our current socio-cultural heading has emerged in the form of networked information economies. The value of this situation is currently best exemplified by the open source software movement on the internet. A foundation is built, released to the public, and freely modified by the consumer to meet their actual requirements, making these “designs” or solutions perfectly intune with the users goals.

I propose the appropriation of this model to create a network of multidisciplinary “design” offices that function together through a shared infastructure, while acting independently to meet the exact needs that their specific situation affords them.

Since this concept is rooted in the value of bridging social and professional communities, it only makes sense to utilize existing networks. So a team of current classmates, graduated classmates, teachers and professionals was assembled simply by talking about it so much that they got interested in either; a. helping out the cause, or, b. helping out the cause to get me off their back. This group is responsible for developing the identity and method of communication, as well as, keeping each other from running in circle. The second development team is you, the interested public. Hence the blog. So go ahead and comment, that's the only way this project can try out it's legs.

Over the next couple of months i'll update you all with the most current developments. Hopefully this becomes something so undeniablly positive, that it happens.
